Senior Engineering Geologist

Romig Engineers, Inc. is seeking a local and experienced mid to senior-level Engineering Geologist to manage geologic investigations for the wide range of geo-hazards that the Bay Area presents.

Romig Engineers, Inc. is a leading geotechnical and geological engineering firm supporting Peninsula and San Francisco Bay area development and construction. Based in San Carlos, Romig was founded in 1994 and has completed over 6,000 projects ranging from single family homes to mid rise commercial and municipal developments in hillside, fault laden, and bay margin environments.

This candidate should be able to demonstrate broad experience in proposal and client development, management and oversight of complex geologic field investigations, fault and landslide geologic evaluations, understanding of landslide mitigation practices, and preparation of geologic reports. In addition, the candidate should have performed and be prepared to discuss their experience in detailed site reconnaissance and field mapping, site exploration including borings, bedrock coring, fault trenching, and deep observation shafts; as well as their knowledge of local geologic maps, pertinent historic data, aerial imagery interpretation, and other tools for geologic research.

This person will work directly with the Principal in charge of the Geologic group for planning and strategy pertaining to geologic projects. While working with project managers and principals in a day-to-day capacity throughout the project timeline as well as supervise and bring along less experienced geologic staff personnel.

Ideal Candidate:

  • B.S. and preferably M.S. in Geology or Engineering Geology preferably with engineering geologic emphasis

  • California CEG license or PG license working towards CEG registration

  • 5 to 15 years of increasing responsibility in engineering geology

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills

  • Competitive pay commensurate with experience

  • Strong computer skills

  • Self motivated with strong interest in career advancement

  • Ability to work well with others, as well as, work independently

  • The position will require an ability to lift, carry and transport soil samples and equipment up to 50 pounds in weight

  • Clean DMV record with current driver license and suitable vehicle for travel to project sites

  • Preferably live in the San Francisco Bay Area
